MAF cleaner intermittently worked on my old MAF before I replaced it. Lol, I dunno if this one is dead now but it's kinda lame if it is because they're expensive dammit.

You can buy Aerostart from Supercheap for under $30 a can.
You've got a choice between Nulon Start Ya Bastard, CRC Aerostart and 'Series 500' Starting Fluid (different sized cans aswell).
I beleive it works by igniting under lower pressure/temperature conditions, so its technically causes pre ignition in an engine (makes a very very distinct pinging sound).
You shouldn't need the stuff if you look after your cars, and I beleive its directed more at carby engines as its not exactly the best idea to spray flamable liquids over your MAF, Air filter ect.
MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here* 80 series - The MK2's BIG, Sooty, polar opposite... HAHAHA
