It's looking very awesome and shiny... at least the dribble will roll right off

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

            • For a bit of cash and somewhere to stay id love to go around australia detailing cars hahah, but dont think im quite up to that standard

Actually am very interested in getting into the car detailing business, or atleast doing some private stuff, but don't think it would be easy to make any decent money from it so it will probably never actually turn into anything more then a nice thought. That said, I am washing cars for a used car yard at the moment.

Am finally about to order a new pan/pump/ect when I can find somewhere that will ship them to aus for a decent price.

                  • Havent given this a proper update in a while (ignore the slightly intoxicated rage a couple posts back -.-)

My favorite thing in the world... big boxes waiting for me when I get home

Contents of this one shall remain a mystery until later.

And the one I was most looking forward too

The bits I had been lusting...

Also got a new thermostat housing kit (the housing, crack pipe, low temp thermo stat, ect ect) to fix the cooling system with, but havent got around to that yet.

note: in this photo tried to patch the old sump up with metal expoxy, and hammered it back into shape, it was so much worse before haha. Still, shoows the difference kinda.

anyway, got home from work at like 7 and was like "yay, new bits, easy swap and then I'll have my baby roaring again "
Wrong. swapped them over, new oil ect, easy. go to start it. nothing. battery is flat. try to jump start it. turns over but nothing else. start getting annoyed. check for spark, yep, theres spark, keep trying to start it, still nothing. give up, put it on the charger and called it a night.

next day, checked for fuel, nope. Thats the problem. Tested pump, all good, its something electrical, great. 2 nights later of trying various things and getting pissed off I found an imobilizer for an alarm I had taken out a few weeks back while it was undrivable. Bypassed it and shes alive!@ Win. Took it for a dive and realised it was so much nicer to drive then I had remembered

And its been trouble free ever since.

                    Hahahahaha. kidding.

Drove it for one day, next morning I head out and the garage is covered in oil. a good 4L it took to get it back up to the right level. Had a quick look and the drain plug on the pan seemed to be loose. Odd as it was definately tight when I put it in. Ohwell. tightened it up and took it for a spin. Just as I was coming into my street the oil light started flashing. pulled over took a look, plenty of oil... ****. got her home, swore a bit, went back to driving the mums old Peugeot. It was about now big fights started between the parents and I, and my access to the garage, mums spare car and any of the fathers tools was taken away. Great. No car, no means of transport, no money and no tools (lucky I still had somewhere to sleep)... Anyway you guys don't need to know, and wouldnt be interested in any of that. Long story short I eventually got to borrow a couple tools to see what was up.

Took the sump off, to find this.

New pump has shattered.... It also sheared the end off the oil pump drive shaft -.-

3 months of no car and $400 for new bits wasnt enough, the bastard is still getting me back for taking away its ground clearance

                    • Chin up, It's a little speed bump and when you build a car it will never be smooth sailing. Do you know why the oil pump destroyed itself? Can you get some money back maybe?

                      • Trying. A lot of **** going down in my life at the moment, and this just adds to that, but whatever, it'll be right This isnt meant to be a project car, its my daily, so when its not going that makes things complicated.

I'm doubting I'll be able to get any money back for it, pretty sure it must have shattered when I hit a bump, new pans already got a nice circle where the pump hit it. It wasnt a genuine pump and so must have been of less quality. Im going to guess it then sucked up a bit of metal which got stuck and cuased the oil pump drive shaft to shear the end off. Dont know how im going to go about getting that out :/

                        • Eeeep! I've had my sump welded up more than once and replaced my oil pump... the things we do for moar lows! Can you have a guard made up to protect your sump? I ended up raising mine back up, so I'm not a cool kid any more..
Thought, buy a $500 dunger until yours is fixed? I hope it all settles down for you, my vr has made me cry on more than one occasion.

                              • Yeah its not great. Ohwell I'll live. a $500 beater would probably be more reliable stephy haha, not a bad idea. But nah, I dont have a spare $500 at the moment.

I also got a new NA lip and Badgless Grille from Tim at Dub Addiction while they where still on sale

Finally got the grille painted up (metal bit - primer, a few coats of autobarn mixed up touch up paint which is thankfully a pretty good match, like 7 layers of clear, 2000 grit wet sand and then buffed up and waxed... top bit primered then painted satin black) so just went and threw it on. I lost one of my indicator dummy pannel things the other day while out enjoying my 1 day of functioning car D:
