You know I passed over this thread earlier and missed the part that described the chip, so seeing no abvious chip in my key thought it didn't have one. Hell it looks like a piece of plastic filler.

Is there any point to a new immobiliser with alarm (besides for the alarm side)?

Am I right in thinking that you end up with two immobiliser systems in place? Potential conflicts?

I wanted the immobiliser for security, the alarm to (hopfeully) move people along, but also to hook up the central locking to so I could have remote central locking.

Should I just be looking for a remote central locking kit or a straight alarm kit rather than the immobiliser jobbie I have been?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

No problems having 2 immobs fitted. If there's a problem with it not starting just have to remember that fact or tell the dude working on it.

I actually do have one! Had a blank key cut and it wouldn't start the car, it just turns.
