  • what do ya know about the concept-colour Mk3's?

ive been lookin at a yellow concept-colour vr6 on carsales.com, but i cant find any decent info about the australian versions...

they are just a bright-painted vr6 with matching trim, right?

are they worth more than a standard vr6, or are they worth less, because of the... uhhh..."unusual" paint colours?

I LOVE the green concept colour, but apparently only 100 or so made it to oz...

    can anyone help me out?

IIRC they are in limited edition colours with coloured inserts on the seats which I believe are heated. They came with different wheels too. Otherwise they are about the same as a normal VR6.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

as above mechanically the same the differents are mostly to the trim. The standout being seats are proper recaros with the massive side bolsters. Wheels are a 15" 6 spoke design

Id say they are probably worth a little bit more than a standard VR6. A lot of the ones I have seen about are pretty tired looking though. Any colour concept specific parts will be worth a packet to replace no doubt. Thats if you can get them.

The only one I'd have would be Black. They did them in the UK with GTI and GTI 16V engines, no VR6s. The wheels are Solitudes IIRC.

... and I own one of them

As it's already been mentioned the big differences between a regular vr6 and a colour concept are:
Sweet heated front seats in two tone leather matching the paint job that are very buckety
            Vibrant paint job
            BBS 6-spoke rims
            "colour concept" badges
            smoked rear tail lights

I'm guessing it was a kind of run-out model thing like the mk5 pirelli gti's are. But that doesnt take away from them at all. Still a great car!

One thing worth mentioning is that I get *loads* of compliments about the colour & trim, especially from chicks. They LOVE it!!

450 VR6 Colour Concepts were made in total, 100 of them came to Australia . 20 Jazz Blue , 20 Diamond Black, 20 Flash Red , 20 Yellow and 20 Salsa Green.
I think they had silver instruments dials.

I've driven a mates quite a bit and those seats are glorious I have warned him that I'm going to swap them with mine many times. They are heated, but whether or not anyone in oz wants that is a different story.

The smoked rear lights aren't colour concept specific, but are to the VR6 range.

Very cool and worth a look if the money and condition is right

There's a stack of threads where people have asked about the colour concept so have a bit of a search too
DO NOT underestimate the desirability of heated seats, even in Australia. I'm in Sydney and I really appreciate the heated seats on cool winter mornings. I know there are many members here who feel the same.

They also cause issues with male fertility and aren't needed in almost all of Australia as it never gets "that" cold here.

They cause issues with male fertility and they make chicks feel warm and fuzzy in a special place. (if you dont know what I mean then youre too young to understand, move along)

From my standpoint the above situation is ideal

Maybe they should only have heated seats availablie in 3 door models then .

And yes i do get what you mean lol.

                            Mine dont work, haha
The drivers one is dead. Apparently the passengers one sort of works but I havent used it in years. Honestly I forget they're even heated. It's on the fix it list but I honestly dont care...
