anyone know where i can get a nice sounding exhaust for my VR6 for around $400 in NSW?

if ur tight for cash and cant be stuffed with too much work. just get rid of on of the mufflers. theres one calle a suitcase muffler that alot of people get rid of, though i dont know which one it is cos mine was changed when i got it. search vortex for suitcase muffler deleting on vr's, its pretty common.

Briefcase/suitcase muffler delete is where the biggest muffler in the system is deleted and replaced with joining pipework.

It's cheap and cheerful. Nothing major, sounds a bit louder, sounds a bit more raw, but I'd prefer to save for a good system.

FYI, it's the middle muffler - ie, the system is cat>resonator>briefcase>backbox.

As stated by the above remove the centre muffler and replace with a straight section of pipe. Should cost no more than $60. I had mine removed and a new section welded on for $35.

        Sounds good too!

          Mine cost 520.

          2 1/4 mild steel
          resonator
          magnaflow muffler.

Search for my thread to hear it, and/or mickeys.

Point being If you want a lukey or redback or hurricane (i think they are the generic exhast shop brands) you should be able to get it for less than 400, as my muffler alone was 400.

All the best, if you do the delete, post up some video

Cut the suitcase out and stick a "fully sick Drift" pod filter on it.
Mine's only got a pod thing (haven't cut the case out yet) and it makes a great noise(nice and quiet on the highway too)! Matt got pulled over in town once for having "a too big and noisy exhaust" on the VR6... tried uploading a video but i'm having trouble.
Cost about $40. (i would have a proper exhaust on my VR - but my MK1 is a moneypit....)
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...

really there are 3 muffler/box things after the cat? wow, i dun even know where they would all fit!
when i bought mine it must have had the 2 rears (suitcase and back box) deleted and had some noname peice of CRAP muffler there. i suppose it sounds ok but its got some crap little screw on "tip" which looks like crap.
whatver u do man, dont delete the suitcase and the back box and put a straight through back box, i have a spare that i got when i bought mine which is a straight through and when i put it on, my ears pretty much bleed its that loud. after i changed it to the straight through one, i didnt even get to the road i wanted to test it on which was like 30 seconds from my house befroe i turned around to change it, i cant even expain how loud that was :-S
im pretty interested in what u decide on cos i want something better than what i got now too!

I know it's exxy, but ask them for a discount cos they'll give you a good price. It's a full catback system, and I've got it on mine and I go all funny when I put my foot down.

Deleted the suitcase muffler with a straight through one and the sound is deep with no cabin resin.

If you have the time to read through, I replaced my exhaust a couple of years ago now:

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I was thinking, if i replace the suitcase with 2 1/4" pipe wouldn't i loose back pressure and loose low end power?
