I think someone dodgied up my VR6

I tired to fix the coolant leak on my VR6 this afternoon and discovered what I believe to be a failed plastic crack pipe. As I took off the coolant hose I found the following stuck in the end of the coolant hose:





The thread section looked it was glued into the crack pipe, the other end looks like it's been sawn off and then jammed into the coolant hose.

Can anyone also please confirm how much coolant the VR6 takes, coolant went everywhere once I pulled the hose off entirely.

Things like that happen when holden mechanics try to fix VWs.

wierd... but not the craziest thing I have seen done in a car

I suppose it was a cheap and dirty way to fix a problem (that apparently worked). Your putting in a shiny new crack pipe anyway right? (maybe some new rubber pipes too??)

*Cries* I guess if they need to be done funny how a small problem escalates as soon as you touch it. I've got a new coolant hose to go from the oil cooler to the bypass pipe as i thought the problem was a cracked hose originally.

Do I need to buy anymore hoses while I am at it? How much work is involved to change the crack pipe over?
