  • old for you guys but new for me

    hey guys,

ive been a bit of a stalker here for a while researching the almight vr6 and what not.
and now i finally have my own. the one that just so happened to be what turned me on to them in the first place.

You are probably pretty familiar with Erics VR. i got the keys to it yesterday.
and it is flipping amazing. spent most of the afternoon yesterday cruising some back roads in NW tasmania. and it loved it. i am stoked.

it has a few things the touch up. mostly cosmetic. some realllllly bad stone chipping on the bonnet and front bumper. some damaged leather. back drivers side window doesnt work (doesnt worry me too much.. i dont sit in the back). air con needs something to make it work?

and my so far small wish list: a thule rack system (bike rack and basket) and 555 fairing if one ever pops up. and maybe some foggies in replace of the kamei intakes... but im not sure. i didnt like the intakes at first but they are growing on me. i really like angel eye headlights too. but the mk4 style ones on the car now are nice too... i might smoke them... not sure yet.

im moving to brizzy in july so the vr will be taking a mighty road trip up there then. contemplating a tow bar for the trip.

anyway. pics are the best. so here is one i took from my iphone on its first cruize (with me anyway) on a nice windy coastal road.

Congrats buddy, that's an interesting car.

Always particularly liked those wheels and the ignition system is nice.

    Keep it sharp.

Oh yes, big fan of this one, such a clean looking example and of course I love the BBS RN's Grats on the pickup, can't wait to see what you do with her!

haha, any clue? i read somewhere here that it is rarely just in need of gas and almost definitely going to be more expensive then that...

not something i definitely need to fix while im still living in tassie. but i want it fixed before moving to brizzy!

                          thanks pete,

we only need aircon for a few weeks in the summer every year so i can put it off for a bit.

mind sharing a rough figure and what exactly it was that was wrong with it?

When I had mine done a few years back it was soemthing like $350 for a re-built compressor, about US$70 for a receiver/dryer and a pressure switch and finally a regas for about $70.

In reality the only other part is the condensor which is a couple of hundred new from GAP, no clue what they are locally.

Just remember shipping might be expensive (my last order cost me US$80 and almost US$50 for shipping )

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Thanks hawk. Looks like a few dollars might need to be spent. Lucky my windows are going down didn't have that luxury in my previous beemer.
