got my ecu out and figured out it wasnt the kind of ecu that u just pop the chip in. not a plug and play. the chip needs to be soldered in! great!

does anyone see how exactly to solder this to the ECU? the legs on the chip are way too short to make a good contact. they need to be bent at a 90* angle before they can be soldered, and they just wont reach far enough.
and no that pale bit between the legs doesnt come out, its part of the chip, its glued in there.
at the moment im just running it on stock software but when i get the chip sorted ill get that in there to have it run even better.
i have had it on the road for about two and a half weeks now with about 650 kms so far, all under 5K rpm so far. im gonna keep it at that until about a thousand, then ill take it out to redline.
even just driving around normally, its got SO much more torque than before.
up to 5K it pulls like a freakin train, its unbelievable, i love it.
the sound on start up is really nice with the cams too. just enough to have a little lump, even when its warm. i can always turn the idle a little lower if i want more
the clutch is a bit heavier than before and much more catchy.
still got the exhaust i got it with which is basically just the stock front muffler with a pipe to some noname back box, exiting out a 1.85" pipe ( measured the other day) and it sounds absolutely NUTS. especially between buildings. and in tunnels.
Next on the list is getting some decent pipes for the exhaust cos obviously 1.85" is not bit enough for this.
also going to port out the downpipes from mani to cat that i have spare and swap those over. and get some sort of shield to avoid the pod sucking up hot air from the engine bay.
and get my ABS fixed some how.
if anyone knows anything about that chip let me knwo yeah?
i had a video but i cant find it now, ill try later.
yeah i know that was a heap of pictures but what is such a thread without them?
    I AM A HAPPY CAMPER

those legs arent designed to be bent at all. they are supposed to stick past the contact board a few mm and u solder them to the board. hope that chip is physically designed to our boards and not different to the us ones coz if they dont fit somehting is wrong.

Just got an email from James, i think he was saying i should get in contact with Chris at C2 and send my ECU to them to get a socket soldered in there so the chip will just plug in. guess its means to be a plug in type chip and not a solder in one :S
I suppose that means itll be off the road while the ECU goes to america, gets worked on, then comes back, so thats what...another few weeks? Maybe i can get them to send me the socket and get it done here?

Ill definately try come to the next meet good excuse to finish running it in so i can really have some fun with it

pete, whats goin on with urs man, u got the head back on urs? lets race!

Talked to Chris at C2 Motorsports, i will need to find a socket to solder onto my ECU before i can put that chip in. Ive asked him, on friday, where i could get one and he hasnt replied yet.
Anyone know a lead as to where i might be able to source a socket for this chip? are there companies that make them to order or anyone who already has them premade?

oh i figured out why my reverse lights were always half on since putting it back together, the reverse signal plug and one of the aircon plugs was swapped around. only noticed it once i had the aircon regassed and the compressor was running all the time haha

Nah not yet just posted the question on Vortex. we'll see if that gets any help.
the computer tech at work said he'd like to see a picture of how the socket attaches to the circuit board as some are meant to go through the board to solder to the other side for a really good solid hold, since you have to pull at the socket to get the chip out.
he thinks the circuit board would probably be multilayered so a socket that goes through to the other side wouldnt work. he want to see a picture first. not in a massive rush, im only a little bit concerned about if its runnin lean at all. i wouldnt think so but i have to way of checking at the moment, so its playing on my mind a little.
oh! i took it red line! BEST SOUND EVER. driving through the east link tunnels , if i shift down to 2nd and stop it it sounds like a huge angry monster is chasing me through the tunnel
will change oil tomorrow or next week as its done just over a thousand kms now. Still debating whether or not to change it at 7,500 or 15,000 kms from then on.

take the chip into jaycar. They should be able to supply a socket to suit.
Maybe even have a chat to Lucas from Eurospeed. He might have experience with these ECUs?
