  • VR6 Engine Leaking Water !!!

    Hi all.

I think something is seriously wrong with my car.
It is leaking water from the engine like at the front in the middle bit.
But the weird thing is the water pod that holds the coolant and water or whatever instantly runs out whenever i fill it up then it leaks from under the car.
At first i thought it was the water pod thing but now i think it could be more serious, the other day i was in Artarmon and the temperature gage went straight up to hot but i filled the water up before i left. In the end i had to get it towed from Artarmon Back to Cherrybrook as i really didn't want to leave it there.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong!
I need to get it fixed asap but I'd like to know if I could fix it myself without having to take it to a workshop to pay for it to be fixed!!

Anyway, here are the two best pics i could get (FYI i took these like upside down so they may look weird!!)

    Any comments will be appreciated!!

    Thanks!!

    Jess

    Sounds like the crack pipe...

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

      The crack what? lol.

Would the pipe be expensive to replace?
Could I do it myself or would I have to get someone to do it?

Assuming I'm right, you can get a replacement from one of your friendly forum Sponsors: http://www.dubaddiction.com.au/index...7nsed4cdkeq0b2

The crack pipe is know to fail, you can buy a plastic one and know it will last ~10 years or a metal one and know it's never breaking Your choice.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to find out the metal one is cheaper than the genuine one.

Look and see of the water is coming out of a long black pipe that runs across the front of the engine...

Without guesssing have the cooling system pressure tested mate, that ll soon show where the leak is

                  Hi all

i checked under the car from what i could see it does seem to be a black pipe at the front of the engine.

hey Jmac how would i get my car pressure tested?
i cant really drive anywhere so do you think a mobile mechanic would be able to do that?

                  Thanks

Black pipe is the crack pipe they all refer to here mate, pretty sure it will be. If i were you i would get the crackpipe, themostat housing, stat, and seals, and of course new coolant, reason i say this is if you fit the new crackpipe only then the other weak spots will show up, change them now mate and beat at ease, and while you are there get a new pressure cap.
                    Cheers

Agreed, if your going to do a job, make sure you do it right, once.
