  • damn textured bumpers

guys, just want to make things clear on which products are the best to eliminate/aid with fading textured bumpers found on the early mk3's.

dont want to use armor-all as i heard it makes it worse the more sun is exposed to it.

or is it possible to get a replacement textured bumper mould from vw itself?

seriously, kiwi shoe polish. except get the liquid one that has the applicator on the head. costs about $4, and will last for months on end.

I believe Mickey was using the kiwi liquid polish + applicator head and had no issues up to 6 months after applying it.

Heaps cheaper and longer lasting than other alternatives.

The best option is to get it properly colour coded, but sadly thats not a really cheap option

Plenty of people here swear by Kiwi shoe polish.

I am keen to try out Autoglym Bumper Black, but for the moment I'm using Bumper Care which works damn well, but like all the others it fades over time although I find it much better than Amourall. There is also Forever black which I hear is very good also.

Talk to one of our sponsors [ULR=http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/member.php?u=9776]Car Care Products[/URL] who I'm sure can chime in with something to help you out.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

              *Mickey chimes in*

              +1 for Kiwi shoe polish

Here's how it looked on my bumpers after applying it about 3-4 months before (note, I lightly sanded my bumpers and cleaned them with alcohol so the kiwi shoe polish was 100% ready to go on to a clean surface) :

Use a hot air gun carefully if they are real grey. Then finish off with the blackening agent of your choice.
