As for an ECU id run MoTeC the best in the world... But if you want bang for your buck i think the best after market chip is a UNiChip...

Forced induction is mad and i really like it but if things go bang it cost alot of money... I still recon a full race NA engine is the way to go, but hay put on a turbo and a few other goodies and you got some good HP... Only problem then is getting the power down to the ground...

I think about this all the time. I am actually really considering it for when I rebuild the VR.

America is a gold mine for golf parts and goodies, esp the mk3
So stuff like exhaust manifolds and chips can be purchased pretty cheaply from overseas.

At first I was going to go a head spacer, which some companies in the US sell, but then I figured if I am going to rebuild my motor soon I may aswell just bore and fit new pistons to bring the comp down to something like 8.5:1. There is even a company that sells whole turbo prepped long blocks for a nice 3ltr turbo setup (www.evwparts.com).

This is some stuff on an old list I found

        Fueling-
C2 chip, chip made by a US company, made for each individual ECU (you give them the number) and is designed to increase the fuel mixtures throughout the rev range to suit a certain psi rating. This does mean you cant play around with it much and boost it to hard but its cheaper than a stand alone.
About >450cc injectors are required as well.

        Manifold-
The manifold I found was about US$700 (edit: Looked at the site again because it didnt seem right and the mani is US$350) which is expensive, and there can probably be one custom made for alot less but what I liked about it is it was cast not tube welded. This just means it will last and not crack and **** (lol bad experience with tube welded mani's) This manifold had a 45mm waste gate branch and fit a t3 flange.

        Turbo-
That was another thing I liked about the mani, any older style T3/T04 turbo can be bolted on. A T04 on this size motor would be good for what I want, able to maintain drive ability and doesn't boost if I don't want it to around town. Some would say a lag monster, but on a VR6 it doesnt need any bottom end. Any T3 would be fine aswell. T04's and T3's can be purchased brand new from lost of places for like $400. Which is awesome considering anything from HKS new is above 2g.

        Exhaust and Piping.
The piping for the exhaust has to be custom made, there are no cheap kits (well not how I define cheap). Intercooler piping is the strange part. It can be done 2 ways.
-From original airfilter location (closer to the engine and lower down) to the turbo intake
-From the turbo's compressor housing up close to the firewall then down the right side past the battery. The best place to run piping is though the flat bases like under the airbox to under the front bar. The intercooler has to be small height wise and it will fit, but can be as long as that centre section of the bar. Piping then comes up the left side of the car, over the air filter and into the standard throttle. The air filter can also be piped into the front bar to get airflow and to make space.

The other way to do it is with a custom intake and throttle. Piping intake is where it normally is then it can either go down past the battery again and come up to the front mounted plenum (left) or it can go down the same side as the intake and come up on the battery side and go into the plenum on the right.

        Here are some fave pics

Sorry for rabbitting on. It has been on my mind. Gold Coast might be seeing a VRT04 mk3 lolz. But this is all after I get my d9's and some coils

C2 software isnt really supported properly via our ECUs as the US market had different setups.

Thanks dude do you know the code at all?

the kit kenetic sells is so sexual too i want it, but it would be sooo much cheaper to buy it all separate.

I rekon I could be making 250hp+ with about $3000-$3500

Manifold is almost complete , had to find a new spot for it cause turbo and tuned length manifold wouldnt fit in behind engine and firewall . Quoted 4 inch exhaust for it , fargh me it aint cheap for 2 bends and 1 metre of tubing !
