Hey folks, I was thinking about cleaning out the throttle body and intake elbow on my VR6 and was wondering whether its neccessary to replace the throttle body gasket once its done and if anyone else has done it and has any tips?
As for the gasket mate, I have picked up the rule ''when you take one off don't put it back on''. Gaskets aren't too expensive, and despite it only being air I would still just do it.

Fair enough, I'm just having trouble finding one that's all.
I replaced in the upper intake manifold gasket when I painted the intake, but remember these things are actually aluminium, not the 'normal' materials I was expecting. I had bought a replacement under that "replace it when you remove it" rule not knowing what it was made from.
When I later pulled out the TB to clean mine I put it back in without thinking too hard about it since it looked to be in good nick (and I didn't have a spare).
I think for a one off quick clean it would be fine, but if your taking the TB on and off regular like you might want to replace it every so often.
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
I'm going to be doing an order very soon for some stuff so if you can bare a couple of weeks let me know.
Thanks for that guys, I just want to do a one off clean and re-route the oil catch on breather and polish up the throttle body whilst the interior is in bits and I can't drive it for a week or two.
