  • Gearbox assembly

    Hi,

I busted another clutch the other day (yawn). It was a broken clutch lever... anyway... I took the gearbox appart to make sure there was nothing wrong and the tapered bearings were all buggered and 2nd gear synchro was stuffed, it spun freely! Oh well those parts are on order.

While taking apart the gearbox, there was a spring in the bottom of the housing that wasn't attached to anything and I can't tell where it is supposed to go.

Aaron the Hawk: You scanned in pages of a book that helped me with my heater vents. Does that book have a schematic on gearbox assembly? Could you please scan those pages and post it so I can figure out where my extra spring is suppose to go while I am reconstructing the gearbox?

    Thanks in advance!

I'll have a look tonight and see what I can find for you.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

          Thanks Pete.

That is a great resource. I have added it to my favourites. It may have answered my question... I am not sure. It might be the shift fork rod spring but I would still appreciate a diagram from The Hawks book if he can find it. I like pictures better than photos. Thanks again mate

Funnily enough the gearbox is actually quite complex so there are lots and lots of diagrams, if you can narrow it down I might be able to put up the right diagram...
(Plan B is to give me a part number for that spring if it has one on it, or a part number for a bit near it).

it is a spring... it was either the smallest or second smallest spring in the gearbox. I think there were only 4 springs total

                  thanks mate.

That one might be it. I don't really understand where it goes but it might be more obvious when I'm putting it together. I am interested in that ETKA. Is that picture a print out from it?
