  • Windows not up or down (NOT regulators)

Ok where should I start investigating??

I have 3 remaining window regulators, surely it can not all fail at the same time ( one is still held up by a plank of wood) !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was working fine all day until I parked my car.

Logic tells me it should be something central, I have checked the possible fuses in the box.

Where else should I check and how.

      It is a Mk 3

Could be a power issue? Switch in the dash off stopping the rears from working + one dead front reg?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Was in Louis' car today when it happened. Started the car, I rolled a window down. 5 minutes later we parked and tried to roll the window up and I get nothing, not even a motor noise. Proceeded to try this with other working regulators and still get nothing. No regulator cable binding, no motor clicks. One of the fuses had blown so we replaced that one, but still doesn't work. AFAIK, everything else was working fine...

Would it be a grounding issue ? I wonder what else is in the same loom? Everything else seems to be working fine.

Definitely sounds like the fuse blew dude. I'd check all of the fuses beneath your feet just to be sure because I know when trying to get my headlights to work it wasn't just one fuse. If all of them work there, you may have to check out your buttons.

Did you try winding the windows down from every button available, or just the ones in the front? It could be a soldering problem but I find it hard to believe it happened to them all. It would have had to come from a master source (ie a dry soldered joint where all the window actuators connect to the power). It's a headscratcher!

I've had a similar problem in my old 205 gti (yes I know), one switch died, but all the other p/w switches were linked.
Took a couple of switch changes before i got the window to go up, but it did work
same thing as yours, my brother rolled the window down and it wouldn't come up again, no noise, no nothing.
might be worth a try if you haven't fixed it already.

I may have to try that. Perhaps the switched are lined in series.
anyone know if there are fuses apart from the fuse box for the power windows?

This morning I had to unbolt the window from it's rails and wedge it inplace with 2 screw drivers. Goodness sake. Wish I have a new car sometime.

probably switches or wires where they go through the door mate.
At least you got the car going again.

                    OH MY GOODNESS

                    I am gob smacked !!
After a wash an polish... For some Mysterious reason, the window started working again!!! Sometime you just have to laugh at a MK3.

Nevertheless, I am so glad I have the car again.

                      HAHAHAH!! Epic win!!

Your electrics are dry man, they need a re-solder because the connection is obviously frail.

One thing after the other!!!!! I just craped the driver side rear bumper visiting north straithfield steak house. Stupid car space is so freaken narrow.

Never in my 6 years of driving have I ever nicked my car.

I suppose it is just paint!!
