The thing is I really am liking the bay though, its clean yet not fully shaved I'm thinking of going down this path!

      Stop thinking about it then

I agree with most; too much is precisely that..too much. Do a few wires here and there and make sure they're not stuff you'd need to FIDDLE WITH otherwise you'll create a nightmare. clean it up and tuck it (even if you want to solder on some extensions for wires so you can group them all neatly..) neatly and finish there mate

I will take to hand most probably all of the seam sealer with a wire brush.

Don't forget the engine is already out so it will be easy!

I just need to speak to the panel shop!

ok, is there any repercussions with removing the seam sealer? why is it there in the first place?

I'm guessing its to hide the seam thats all I can thnik about

And that guy must not have any if he is stressing his motor out like that with a turbo?

probably more to do with preventing water getting into the cracks and rusting the hell out of the car. some ppl weld everything up and grind it back as opposed to bogging it all up.

Yep - peedman is right, it's about preventing corrosion/moisture/oxidation from getting into the seems.

                    Ways around that, though.

As mentioned many times a nice clean bay with a little smoothing will go a long way
