  • A clean bay opposed to a shaved bay?

Well I am pondering about this question and the road I want to take with the mk3 in which I can't honestly figure out what I want to do with it

I'm thinking clean bay, which will involve...
    Removing seam sealer
Cleaning up a few holes and plugs

    OR

    Completely gone spastic shaved bay

I'm kinda thinking the first with a newly painted bay without seam sealer and super clean engine will work nicely.

Any suggestions and please post up pics
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

When people do that, where does stuff like the airbox, washer fluid bottle, etc all go?

        Full (but clean) bay ftw..

I honestly wouldn't know where to start clearing it up anyway.

the airbox i assume its replaced by a pod filter hidden sumtime in the guards..

most items are moved or hidden in panels welded up or in the boot

I wonder the same thing. Does it all get stashed in the boot?

Something like this is what I am thinking:

This is the only pic he has atm but...

Its clean with a fresh coat of paint but most of the wires are still all there.

                    clean bay.

i can't stand shaved show bays. so impractical. clean but fully functoining bay i reckon.

A nice clean bay, fresh paint, moved battery and maybe removed washer bottle (if you dont use it), plus maybe a few plugged up/welded holes and remove the sealer with wiring hidden in the guards would be the way to go. Neat and not over the top with a fresh painted/polished donk and blackened and polished pipe work always works nicely.

I do love fully shaved bays with as little in there as possible, but the costs and time involved is rediculous and pretty hard to justify when the bonnet gets popped very rarely.

you realise any kind of bog u put in there will crack in the not too distant future, and you know most of those clean/shaved bays from europe/us have lead filler instead of bog in those seams ........

Im in the same boat Steve, my panel beater says go all out as he is willing to try something new and so am I.
It comes down to how much time you want to spend on it more than anything else mate, its just time.

But I am liking this though

Seam sealer off and leaving it bare!
