  • Passenger Window working in reverse

    Hey guys

As the title says, my pasenger side window died a few weeks ago and I bought a second hand motor from Tim (but have not installed it yet)
For the last couple of weeks I've avoided trying the window out in case it got stuck in the down position again.

This morning I gave it a whirl and found the down button makes the window go up and the up button makes the window go down.

Any suggestions as to what's gone wrong??

Fair chance the motor is just connected in reverse mate - not sure if they have a definite polarity (ie different size connections - but since this is DC I doubt it) on the motor, but if not, try reversing the connections.
Otherwise, get your dymo labeller out
    Cheers,
    Al..

So it used to work properly before? Have you swapped the motor out for the replacement?

I know my drivers side rear does that. the auto elec tried swapping the negative and positive to reverse it, but it seems the mechanism is more complex than that.

I thought that maybe there is left/right specific motor since I don't think the regs can be swapped side to side... So that could be it...

I figured I could live with backwards window until it broke (or I find a stack of cash by the roadside ) the only down side being I can't use the auto up feature in my remote central locking or the auto up in the key since one window would be going down

I actually have a working spare passenger side motor from when I replaced a buster reg with a whole second hand motor/reg which I KNOW works right on the passenger side front. You *should* be able to pull just the motor out and swap it over.

If your interested I'm happy to mail it you and if the swap works you can mail me the drivers side one and I can do the same to my rear window...

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I didn't think it was possible to reverse the polarity as the plugs all need to be plugged in a specific way.

It was working normally before, then it died. We pulled it all apart as I had to get the window back up, we just put everything back in like it was before. Then I accidently touched the wrong button this morning and hey presto!!

No not yet, I put the busted one back in the car and then ordered the new one from tim after that. I haven't had an opportunity to put the new one in yet.

It's just odd how the broken one is now working but in reverse??
