  • VAG Retrofit Mk3 TDI Cruise Control?

    Hi

Does anyone know if this will fit a 9/95 build Mk3 TDI?

    Vehicle:

    VW

    Golf MK3 97-98

    Vento 97-98

    Passat 94-97

It mentions suitable for 1.9 TDi Engine Codes: 1Z, AHU, AFN, AHH

My engine code is 12596515 ??

Thats not your engine code mate.

    It should be 1Z 123456

    or ADY 654321

That format anyway. Check on your rego papers if you cant find it on the car.

          Yeah

Always wanted one, drove it up from Melbourne over the weekend.

Great car, paint needs a cut and polish though

          Interior is very good

Nice work, I flew to Coffs Harbour and drove from there to Sydney, but VIC to QLD is commitment

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

VAG Retrofit Mk3 TDI Cruise Control?

It was great to just drive it!

How many Mk 3 TDi's were sold in OZ anyway, I have only seen a few over the years...

How many of us on here have one?

              What years etc etc?

Mine does not have cruise control or power windows how about your TDI?

Were they all imported with the same specs?

Yeh there are literally only a hand full of mk3 tdi's, all the aussie released ones were 96 and onwards and gl. Theres at least 2 of em on here that i know of. Interesting that urs does not have power windows as i woulda thought all gl's did. Mine isnt a tdi its just a td and it was a private import. The funny things are that its a cl with abs and power windows which dont come standard. And yeh no cruise either

Not quite right old son. My Dad had a 1995 Mk III Tdi (Auto, not very good). You can visually tell the difference as the 95's came with Alloys as standard and no black sill covers or colour coded bumper tops. The Auto does not like the diesel torque at all and WILL cost you. He sold it before it cost him.

Anyway they are a fantastic car for the enthusiast. I have had two, my first is now my Dads with 195000km on the clock, runs like brand new. My 2nd I just bought from the original owner in May this year. It has only 109000km on the clock and interestingly enough has ABS brakes. Both are 5sp manuals.

They can be a bit labour intensive from time to time to keep running real good but with some effort and VAG-COM they are rewarding as a hobby. I gather most VW's are this way.

I wont be parting with mine any time soon and would love to buy a wrecked one for parts etc. Only 47 Mk III Tdi's ever sold in Australia, I know of 2 that have been written-off.

Whats your experience with the model?

Yes that is a Mk3 switch, but there doesnt seem to be enough of the kit showing in that add. I see it does mention the 1Z which is a Mk3 motor.
Mate my thoughts would be to send them a few questions via ebay before the purchase. It does also mention cableless throttle which puts another tick in the box.

Is it built and complianced in 95? Otherwise its the odd one out, all the figures ive found say that they were only 96 and onwards. Anywho not that it really matters, ive got the idi motor so id love to go for a squirt in a tdi one day. I love the torque and economy of mine although i would love to have a bit more oomph lol. Idealy i want to put a mk2 turbo on it and get a full exhaust but atm its not on the cards.

I also know of 2 wrecked tdi's one which came up within the last 6 months and another which was put into a 5 door gl by oli on here. There is bound to be more that have crashed which make the cars even rarer!!

Just a quick one to say this set can be activated on the 1Z Tdi engine. Activation is done with self diagnosis using Vagcom.

                            hey gldgti

i might take u up on that offer one day, im not game to touch the fueling yet. i will prob just do a full exhaust one day since changing the turbo is too much of a hassle having a k03. i havent taken the turbo off yet but i can imagine it being a b*tch lol.

i dunno how me missed at the nats but i only stayed for a few hours befor ei had to go.when my car is a bit more up to scratch ill post some pics up! i imagine urs will be much faster tho

sorry OP, shameless thread hijack i promise it will be over soon

Pedro, the k03 on your engine will have the same manifold as the k14 on my engine - its a 3 bolt turbo flange. depending on how big you want to go, there are many options.

that aside, if you fit a boost guage you'll see that you probly pumping a max of a dismal 10-12psi, and the k03 on your engine will easily go to 15 without any trouble. a few pounds extra boost and a little more fuel does wonders for the driveability.
