  • vr6 & BP Ultimate

Hey guys quick though to mention was that i have owned my 12v for just over a year, and now having just clicked 90,000km mark, ive got to say i have tried every 98 ron fuel out there except for v power racing,

My views is that v power from my driving experience is utterly inferior compared to the Ultimate and Caltex vortex,

True these fuels dont give extra horses but the response it just gives to the 12v is just wicked, it picks up and goes better an any gear compared to the standard 95 stuff people are using out there.

And suprisingly over around 10 continuous fill ups of the ultimate i have juiced out and extra 65km on p-u-s-s-y footed driving.

I got to say i recomend ultimate to every 12v owner out there wanting to see the best of what the vr6 has to offer.

    Just my 2 cents. : )

I've only ever put BP Ultimate in my last three cars (2 x RX7's and Currently VR6)

Wouldn't use anything else. Unless I bought a crappy old beater that I didn't care about.

Due to the complete lack of stability of the BP near me - ie not having ultimate on the days I go, stupid whacko pricing every now and then - I decided to start using V power. It's ALWAYS cheaper, and it's still 98. I can't say I've noticed a difference, but I used to like BP

As well as what was mentioned, if any dubber is seeking a fuel system cleaner, engine oil flush or coolant system flush I highly recommend the Liqui-Moly range as it's made by Germans for German cars as told by Volkswagen specialists are pretty sensitive to the universal additive range such as Nulon and Wynn’s.

As I have tried Liqui-Moly on my vr6, it had completely eradicated the noisy valve train on my dub as the previous owner hardly ever believed in oil changes and the Engine oil flush had worked wonders on removing the sludge build up in the head and sump.

For those interested in Liqui-moly, the two retailers stocking this product would be Pep’s auto spares and the usual repco store and believe for a small price to pay you can be rest assured the 12v internally is running up to spec.

i do believe shell v power uses ethanol to up their octane rating... heard that a short time ago from a reputable source...

i know they also have the E10 stuff which uses ethanol too.

          i use Ultimate every time

I think I'll get some stuff for my next service....oil, coolant, oil flush, coolant flush, fuel system cleaner, and if I really feel generous I'll get some transmission oil

From what I have been reading on fuel tests it seems that Shell V Power is merely a gimmick as it contradicts it's whole purpose of providing a cleaner engine over time and instead clogs up injectors as the fuel contains silicone additives.

Yet up until now the 'new and improved' formula (wink wink nudge nudge) is yet to be tested as it was scrutinized in its previous tests.

Hahaha....probably a good reason for me to suck it up and put up with my dodgy BP pricing/availability after my service then...

It seems the more i look into this V Power things just dont add up :

                  Facts:

Did you know that fuel is manufactured in a way for each country? NZ fuel and AUS fuel is not that same. All about climates weather and that kinda stuff.

"V-power is 95 octane. It doesn't replace anything, they just didn't have a fancy name for 95 previously. "

To an extent that is true, V-Power is basically a name change for Shell 95 but it's all about the additives that the different companies add into there petrol's.

Originally Shell 91 and 95 had the same additives in it just different Octane levels. The additive only prevented unwanted deposits on the engine valves.
V-Power however is spose to have the extra work ok not only keeping your valves clean but cleaning of the exsisting deposits, giving you in theory extra performance out of you engine.

so really there are v power fillers out there paying 15-22 cents a litre extra just because it says V POWER and is supposed in some way to be developed with Ferrari.....

Ha what huge load of bull

i also have heard from the same source as before, that your not supposed to use V power in motor bikes with carbies cos the ethanol in the fuel creates a kind of algae that blocks up the carbies.... once again, i only heard this from a guy who i think knows a bit about this sort of thing he could have been talkin crap
