I had mine down last year before driving down to DOVW. I have left the stock cat and done everything behind that. Extractors make bugger all difference to a VR6 and the cat isn't half bad anyway. (unless of course you get cams, a chip, port and polish and maybe some sort of forced induction... which is why I went 2.5" so the supercharger will breathe well (one day soon...)
The local place did a full mandrel bent 2.5" Lukey system in mild steel for $650. Stainless would have been nice, but I couldn't justify the price.
And the final product...
It's much quieter in the cabin that the previous system (which had no resonator), although still a little drone, outside the noise is still good
Stu, have a look on eBay etc for Magnaflow, Oettinger and Remus backboxes. Last I checked (a while back now..) there were some gooduns on eBay for quite good pricing once you buy the backbox all you need is a resonator (your exhaust shop can give you all sorts of them) and piping. I'd say to keep the breathing normal go 2.25" with one resonator and one backbox.
