Cheers buddy, they look pretty good in the pictures, I wonder if they'd throw in two more head-rest covers. I wonder how convincing they are as upholstery e.g. not shift around and feel like seat covers.

Don't these actually replace your factory upholstery rather than go over the top?

Thats right Simon, you need to strip off the existing hig nose clips and replace the entire fabric skin with this aftermarket leather one. I have a book on this kind of level of auto-upholstery and its do-able. Although I do would recommend practicing on some old corolla/commodore etc. seat, taken off the fabric and putting it back on with new hog-nose clips...

interesting... I like the idea of having leather seats... i wonder how much he would charge for it without the logos? and matching door cards?

Haha I smell a group buy!

BTW, the hog-nose pliers and the other clips etc may total up to around 70-100, so keep that in mind as well...

No I haven't but I have a good book on this entry level of auto-upholstery, I'll scan some of the pages for everyone here when I get back from my Australia day activities

In terms of the heat, invest in a windshield cover for $15 from kmart, supercheap or any place that has a car care aisle. You can get nifty ones that fold up into a nice small circle that can fit in map pockets or under your seat easily.
Takes an extra minute or so to put in and take down but you won't be burning your bum or hands plus it will protect your interior no end.

Also with proper darkest legal tinted windows (which sould be a legal requirement here in Australia) putting the shade up will make it quite difficult to see into your car, thus hiding any valuables that you've carelessly left out on display.

                    Cheers,

I have a shade I got for free with some AutoBarn promotion sitting here unused... and I have noticed if I park in such a way that direct sun isn't going in through the windscreen the car is relatively cool inside (compared to the normal over nyu would expect that is) and thats with a black car with black leather interior. Stands to reason the front reflector would help alot...

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

definately keen for a group buy. from what I can work out, a full custom interior will be less than $1000 from this chappy.

Just for you guys. I gave the interior a bit of a detail today so it's nice and shiny and clean at least until tomorrow.

Other option I'd consider for the versicks is this sort of seat

and then just get those retrims for the back seats.
Few questions you'd wanna ask the seller. There's no mention of them being leather in the ad. Countless amount of times i've heard of people being stung cos they assume what they are getting is what's in the pictures provided in the ad. And most importantly you must ask if the seats have they been ADR'd?

Fitting them to a Golf is a real pita. Making them fixed is easy but either way you *legally* need to have any brackets made up for the seats signed off by an engineer in the event of an accident.
