  • Snapped Lock Barrel

Today the lock barrel for my drivers side door snapped and fell out (the part where the key goes in). Has this happened to anybody else? Can it be fixed??

This is a common problem on the Mk3s and you need to source a kit from the dealers.
You should get a lock barrel, spring, link, and 2 seals.
It involves swapping the tumblers and springs from your old lock barrel. Dont get them mixed up!!!

when mine broke it was just the little steel hooky piece on the inside, Matt supplied a SEAT part which is thicker and stronger which simply clipped to the existing barrel and screwed back into place.

Got a photo of the end of the barrel? Chances are if it's still in one piece you can do what I did

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

yeah, it does seem as though it is a little hooky piece by looking at it. Did you have a pic?

Rebecca, check out this post here, sounds like the same thing:

Chances are your just looking for the little connecting rod.

As mentioned, get a second hand one. An OEM work for 14 years in my car, I payed $80 for an after market "heavy duty" eccentric, I than realised I doubt I will have the car for another 14 years !
Otherwise, you can transplant your left eccentric "hook thing" to your right.
