Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Detroit Wheels

Hi A naive question.I am in the market for a GTI. If it has Detroit wheels does that include other features, Brakes suspension, interior etc or is the Detroit option just the wheels

Golf Mk3 GTIs (they do exist overseas) did not make it here to Australia. The only performance model we got were the VR6s.

To the best of my knowledge, the VW OEM Detroit rims will not fit on a Golf Mk3 without significant modification, the Detroit rims came with Golf Mk5 GTIs which use a 5x112 PCD whereas your standard Golf Mk3 (CL or GL) used a 4x100 PCD and the Golf Mk3 VR6 used 5x100 PCD.

You might need to ask your question on the Golf Mk5 sub-forum.
