No matter what your selection I would highly recommend getting either In-pro, FK or Helix brand. They are a bit dearer but well worth it IMO. There is a lot of cheap n nasties on the market, especially on evilbay.

Well, since i started thinking about what to do for my headlight upgrade, i took a browse through the 'MK3 Appreciation' thread again for a little inspiration and it seems to have worked.

I think i've got my choice down to two options...but they're very different indeed.

Firstly, i go for the MK4 look-a-like headlights and keep the car looking modern. My question with this option is, are the front indicators in the headlights active, and can you hook them up instead of the ones in the bumper?

Secondly, i go in the totally opposite direction and do a Jetta/Vento conversion. I lose the dual chamber headlights but i get a whole new look!

I'd hope to do a badgeless grille for either option to give it a clean look.

Hmm, the possibilities. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.

      Cheers

      Jon

I'd say go for the mk4 lookalikes. The Vento conversion could be much more of a pain, and there's lots more finances involved anyway

EDIT: That said...I still love the vento front on golfs...

i can vouch for the mk4 lookalikes. they are pro. depending on how much you are willing to spend, the indicators work in some but not others. I have the ones that don't work and i am kind of annoyed.

It is a project of mine to make them work and I have just bought a whole bunch of orange LEDs to get the DIY plan crankin

            mk4 lookalikes all the way.

My thoughts were leaning towards the MK4 look-a-likes as i liked the more modern, crystal look, and the idea of getting the front indicators working thru the lights was appealing.

Where did you get your lights from? Only found the ones on eBay that are $200 postage!

                Damn.

                                Sweet lights!

The first pic shows the two smaller centre bulbs lit up. Are they wired to the high-beam? That's pretty cool.

Isn't one of those shots of the Celis range lights too? A slightly different take on the MK4 lookalikes. Seen them and they're not cheap.

I like the MK4 lights with integrated turn signals, so you can smooth the front bumper. But if i can get high beam with the two smaller centre bulbs, i might do that instead.
