  • Time for a headlight upgrade

Just had a service done and while replacing a globe in my headlight they found that the front left inner casing had come apart from the light.

No major issue apart from the light wiggling about a bit, but i figured instead of replacing the OEM light, why not upgrade.

So, i'm looking to see who's upgraded their front lights, where they got them from and who snagged a bargain.

I've found loads on ebay but mostly from the USA which means left hand drive cars. I imagine this would affect the orientation of the lights. I can get a set of the lights shown in the pic below for $300 fitted but wanted to see if there's any better/cheaper options.

Alternatively, does anyone have any for sale?

    Cheers

    Jon

$300 fitted? It takes like 5 secs to install headlights urself lol. Im not a fan of those lights i think the best lights are the standard ones, or the expensive brands like hella, fk etc etc.

On my project ive got mk4 look alike headlights which are the ones from tmtuning that i managed to pick up from these forums. They are brighter and do the job but u can tell they are made in china just by looking at em.

Here are the headlights on my car at the moment. One of the previous owners before me installed them so unfortunately I have no idea how much they were:

haha, i know. They're so easy to fit but hey, saves a few knuckle scrapes now and then.

I didn't mind the angel eye look but it might be a bit old hat now, and the MK4 look-a-likes were a favourite of mine, just can't find them anywhere.

Hella are hella-expensive so that's out. The US/Asia market is great for a bargain but i'm concerned about the quality.

Do you have pics you could show me of your MK4 lights?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Mate find yourself a pair of stock ones again and just smoke the housing
(Look at my sig for a quick example) they look fantastic especially on cars with light and dark contrast. I think even though yours is maroon it would look awesome and cost like.....25 bucks!

Im in the same boat, need to replace one of my headlights and after a set of AM ones. Really digging the ones VR6 has above, the black MK4 look ones, but cant justify the price tag at the moment

i've got a set like Pedro's and i'm looking at doing something rather interesting...

Lets just say that the white strip off LEDs that I have will be inside the housing and i have just purchased a few more bright orange LEDs...

After I get the badgeless grill, lower bumper vents and ABS boser hood extension my car will be looking pretty smoothed and sexy

Jondarren, if your right headlight is still in good condition, I'd be glad to take them off you once you get new headlights! I'm just looking for another pair of stock dual chambers.

For a well-priced aftermarket alternative, I don't think you can beat the Mk4-looks, similar to peedman's. The ones in your pics just doesn't fit in with the car! Maybe unless the housings were colour-coded...
