I have an animated GIF somewhere that shows how to do it, but it's a HUUUUUGE file, somewhat like the job of replacing the heater core

Mine was round the $800 mark done by Wolfsberg Motors.

It's a seriously involved job that involves removing pretty much everything forward of the handbrake and the use of a grinder. Set aside a long weekend if you plan on doing it yourself and don't rely on finishing it.

Having said all that, there are many Sydney mornings that I really do appreciate that heater core

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

only attempt this one if youre a SERIOUS DIYer.

I can't seem to find the animated GIF although I'm still searching...

In the meantime, this will do to illustrate the point:

It's one of those things you only DIY if your REALLY serious about it, otherwise you pay some other sucker to do it. Even for the pros it's a FULL day's work. On the upside, the heater core *should* last 10 years.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

                Oh that'd be easy.

                Step one: TAKE OUT EVERYTHING
                Step two: Replace heater core
Step three: PUT EVERYTHING BACK ON.

Thats still a good price for this sort of job.. Most workshops are doing this job for around $1350 including parts..Thats how much my mate had to pay for his VR6...

The heater core itself is pretty cheap, anywhere from $80 - $160 ish depending on who's quoting.

The $800 I paid would be pretty close to on par with the $600 you charged with the few other minor bits and pieces I had fixed up while the core was being replaced.

Seriously, right now. being winter and all, Heating ROCKS! Mind you with the VR I find it can easily get too hot and I need to turn down the heat

On a side note, TURN ON YOUR AC. 5 mintes a week with the heater going you will barely notice it on and it will keep your AC seals nice and fresh which will help to NOT sieze up your compressor costing you $$. Do it.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

The parker stays on if the indicator is left on, probably an issue there...

I noticed this and freaked out before I thought logically for a second...

Parkers stay on if your indicator is on, and if you move your indicator, your parkers follow! it's cool

Nice work doing it yourself Pete, I commend you on your bravery hehe. Let us know how it all goes.

(I should have done this...I've got 3 months of no car driving to do it...too stupid)
