hey guys i went out today to find my mk2 with a swimming pool in the rear pass floor and a wet pass floor lol , i guess ill now have to find where the water is getting in. where do most of you guys find the water entering the car??
cheers brenton
Yep, front door seals (well, having said that, I only have front doors), I find they tend to leak around the bottom rear of the door in heavy rain, from my experience.
I told you! I had the same thing mate so im going hard core, had enough im getting some super sealent **** from the states, also you know the clips that you screw the door card onto?, they leak at the bottom thus allowing heaps of water in, its a small hole but man it crazy
The last Mk 2 i had used to puddle in the rear passenger foot well. I found it to be (and its quite common) the membrane behind the door driver door card, the water used to run down into the window slot, then come out of the bottom of the door card, then get under the carpet because the membrane was rotten and had holes in it.
It happpens to Corrado's as well.
You could just make a hole in the floor to let the water back out

wow loon i could have guessed thats what you would say haha, but then when i drive in the wet it will come up thru the floor. its in the shed now with the carpets out. hose time this weekend to find out which spot its coming from. as the drivers side didnt leak at all . just pass side
cheers brenton
Mk2 seals are expensive and a hole in the floor is free. I thought that would appeal to you boys in the Oaks ghetto
Besides if water comes up throught the hole in the wet, it`ll drain back out when you stop.

What about doing the floor drilling, but adding a small one way valve to the hole??
Or just drill a hole in one of the rubber bungs in the floor. Or pull the bung out.

This happens to me as well, drivers side rear floor. So there's no way of quick fixing this problem besides drilling a hole in the floor?
To fix it you need new door seals which are expensive and hard to get in Australia.
For the quick cheap fix, get your drill out
I reckon a small drilled hole is better than a saturated floor that has fully rusted out.
