re: the car with the VR6 motor, i've been told by someone who has been playing with these cars since release that the VR motor is heavy and throws off the balance of the car a bit. Depends on what your goals with the car are.

You do realise cars 1 and 2 aren't locally delivered (i.e. private imports from the UK)

I was going to suggest it might mean parts are harder to get but heck they're hard to get anyway :p

Yeah I wasn't too keen on the vr6 kind of scared me off a bit. Being UK imports will it be harder to register? The g60 looks promising and I have contacted the guy but I wasn't sure about the rego once I try and change it to QLD rego. It's a shame there aren't many decent mk2's around at the moment! Looking like a road trip to Sydney for me

          Hang In there.
Mk2's pop up every now and again.
You just missed 2 in Brisbane area not long ago.
Best to get a un-molested so you can learn the basics.
The Vr6 engine has a great sound but the engines are higher maintenance than the 8V 1.8.
Great to see some young blood with an interest in the mk2's!!

That G60 has bad wiring. They tried to match the original wiring to the G60 engine and made a mess of it. If you're looking at buying it you'll need a complete new wiring loom for a G60. Other than that it's worth getting if you've got the money. Most MK2's are advertised around $3000 to $4000 so the G60 and VR6 ones are a bit pricey. I bought my MK2 for $1500 but it needed lots of little things fixing.

Most of the mechanicals on a MK2, including the suspension, are interchangeable with the Golf MK3 so parts are pretty cheap if you know where to look. If you know what you're doing and don't need to get someone else to do any work on the Golf they can be quite cheap to run.

MK2's are much better as a daily driver than MK1's. The MK1's are a lot rougher to drive but that still didn't stop me from buying a MK1 which I hope to get back on the road next year. It won't be my daily like my MK2 is but it will be fun to take out on weekends and club events.

My MK2 does over 1000 ks a week, rattles like a babies dummy and shakes my teeth every time I hit a bump but there's no way I'll ever sell it, it's just so much fun to drive. My wife and kids think I'm crazy.

            Cheers

            Paul

                Hi there

                I have a golf mk2 gti 8v,
Atm I don't know if I should sell it but if I get a good price for it, I would consider it.

I was wondering how much are you will to spend on one?

                Cheers

I test drove that orange mk1 a couple weeks ago with my 6yr old son. We both loved it! Would have brought it then but don't have the space good nick only a few minor things to do. Wish I could buy it!

I've got space to store it for you. Of course I'd have to drive it occasionally to make sure everything is working.

I wouldn't drive it much. Trust me, I'm a Public Servant.
