Small bumpers definately for the purists. Big bumpers a lot more aggressive. Some nice examples of some small bumpers above though. Mind you it's not hard to look good slammed on BBS Rs's....

Man, my small bump Mk2 is in the garage with a vacuum leak a.t.m

And to all you haters, the Mk2 shape was based around the small bumpers. It wasn't until later VW threw the poorly-fitting big bumpers on. To me the smalls suit the car's shape perfectly, and, while the big bumpers look more modern and seem to make the car appear wider, they just seem to me like a bit of an afterthought...

          Just my opinion...

P.S. Bsting, your mate's got good taste, I'm loving the shaving with no arches, indicators or aerial. Does it have a rear wiper, or was it shaved too? Kinda reminds me of a black version of a platinum grey car I know it's just a shame about your mate's big-glass doors...

                      hi five is nice

I like this thread. Very much. Very very much.
After recently trashing my small bump'd GTI i just bought a 1990 big bumpd one in uninspiring white.
Thank god i can respray it gunmetal grey and get those flabby, goofy, cheap looking facelift big ones off and put it back the way it should be!! Smart, simple and butch at the back!
I would send pics but i'm retarded with computers.
