anyway, the old engine is out now and im putting in a 9a 2.0 16valver and running it on bike carbs, deleting battery, powersteering res, washer bottle and coolant expansion tank and filling up all the holes from when i converted it over to right hand drive,
some pics of the old unit being removed

im going to be using the loom and ignition bits from a kr 1.8 which has all the parts i need for the spark and for the advance

the engine if from a corrado, wasnt to sure if the engine mount would work but they all line up anyway.
its only a trial fit to line up a few things and back out again to have the box rebuilt and clean it all up

so the plan is to clean up the bay alot more than what it is.

and eventually fill up all the holes in the bulkhead and remove all the studs etc in the bay also

its going to be running carbs anyway so its going to do away with alot of the wiring etc, battery and washer bottle going in the boot and top fill rad also goin in the bay to try and do away with as much clutter as possible.

heres the tilt ajust steering column from a u.s mk2 golf

putting in the pedal box from the corrado

this bracket has to be removed and rewelded to line up with the bolt

heres where the clutch master cylinder is going to be going

not to sure how to go about getting the cylinder in to fit without battering up the bulkhead?
its going to be sitting round here somewhere

          all fun and games :lol

heres the whole unit from a corrado

resevoir is from an audi a3 with the take off for the clutch master cylinder

you can just make out the 2 holes drilled where the master cylinder is going

            pieces cut out

            one of the templets made

bits trial fitted to see if the hole was big enough.....it wasnt:thumbdown:

eventually got it right and cleaned it up

welded up the main plate, and made up a template for the 2 half moon pieces to finish off the job

            weapon of choice

            template

still a bit more work involved but getting there.

removed the exhaust manni and gear linkage, fusebox, getting the chassis legs ready for welding up holes etc, gona start at the passanger side tommorrow and remove the loom from the leg and get the battery tray cut out..also trial fitted the cable shifter to see how things look there too.gona remove the subframe to and get it blasted and powercoated along with the steering rack.

so a bit more done today, got the pedal box finished off, rewelded on the bracket that bolts to the under side of the dash rail,i used to bracket from the old cable pedal box.

tapped out the clutch master cylinder so i could bolt it up from the inside..just have to shorten up the bolts a small bit..

finished off the welding on the bulkhead, just need a skim of filler when the rest of the engine bay is finished off doing the welding up.

soome complete boot carpet i got from a jetta in the scrappie ages ago...and new rear lights on the way also..

got these the other day, full set of locks and keys, fairly cheep to,have to do a bit of changing round and get some other keys cut.

im relocating the battery to the boot and the original tray way in shyte so it had to go,
ive been putting this off for ages.
the only replacement tray i could get was from one of the mates who wasnt using it anymore as the genuine one cant be had anywhere

i had to cut out the old loom first which is going to be routed through the leg later on.

its not the best fitment but ill tidy it up alot better when the rest of the bay is being done.
