Final update on this. Spoke to the guy who was selling that mk2 GTI today (girlfriends friends fiance). Turns out he sold it for $750 the problem with it was something in the cat. New cat and away it goes as good as new. wish I had pulled the trigger on it. What a bargain of a mk2

I got it, loving it. I'm in gosford too

the problem with the auto was that they were using dexron 3, sure way to ruin the tranny, and yes the cat converter was blocked. both cheap fixes

So wish I got it! I've seen you around from time to time. At Supercheap in west gosford ages ago and leaving Erina fair a few weeks back. Glad your enjoying it. Looked great.
