Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Kangaroos and Mk2's dont mix!!

After such a nice drive down to Sydney, my GTI performing so well.
Half way between Grafton and Wardel on the way back to the coast at around 7pm we had a accident with a Red Kangaroo.

I braked as best as I could as soon as I saw it but unfortunately not soon enough.
Luckily we missed a full frontal collision( which I have seen happen) with the Roo.
I can truly say that our lives were saved my the GTI. I keep thinking over what would have happened if we had hit it straight on.

Collected the front left of the Golf- took out my left side grill, left headlamp, bonnet and part of the front quarter panel right near the aerial. (and lost my GTI badge), guess the roo kept that as a souvenier.

Couldnt find the roo, feel bad about it as you don't know how bad it was hurt.

**WARNING** The following photos may sadden some viewers.

        Damn!!!

Did you hit the roo while it was in the air? Bumper look's almost perfect.
Any damage to the slam panel/upper rad support?
Glad it didn't take out those indicators.....

Yeah, roo was just taking off again as I hit him. I think I hit mostly his legs
I'm just pulling off all the busted grill and headlight and looks like the support panel is f'ed the bumper has moved by about 5 mm as well, so look like the bumper supports have cracked or bent.
There is a lot of bent metal around the radiator, luckily no damage, just a few bent fins where the horn hit the radiator.

Not looking forward to adding up the damage bill!!

haha, yep the indicator lights survived! I drove home the last 100 odd kms with right light ok and the left light shining up into the trees!

Nightmare! just after you decided not to sell it as well.

Damage doesn't look too bad. I've got a spare grille if you need it, non GTI though.

Thanks Walshy.. I know! Cant believe our bad luck!
Looks like the slam panel will have to be replaced.
I wont be fixing anything till I return to Aus later this year.
Im back over seas for work next week.

This might be the excuse I have been waiting for to put in a few other "mods" Maybe that 1.8T swap could be a possible.

Thats it, I nearly rolled my car when my Daughter was 6 weeks old, now that scared the crap out of me and wife, being out first child!!

Atleast the car looks like it can fixed rather easy. Could have been worse!!

I know what you mean mate!
Yep, car can be easily rectified.

                        My parts list:

                        New bonnet
                        New Left Headlight and moulding
                        New Slam panel
New grill and GTI badge ( or I might go for a smooth de-badged look)
Left Front panel needs panel work.

What is it with Polo's and Roo's?

This one bent the subframe as well as all the cosmetic damage.

Yep, I think that left front is a popular spot. Hope your Polos are both fixed now Blitzen and Sports Racer?
I spotted a corolla on the road today and looked like they had kit a kangaroo in the same spot.
