Blank Keys Cut???

Hi all,anybody know where i can get some spare keys cut? My car only came with 1 key and the other day i misplaced it and it took me an hr and a half to find it.Which kind of made me think id better get around to chasing some spares up.
I went to a key cutter and he didnt have any blanks to suit?

i bought mine from ebay for like $10 delivered, then went to the keycutter dude and got it cut for $7. $17 all up... not bad!!

If you go to a proper locksmith they will have blanks (as opposed to a shoe repair guy) ; if you want a real vw blank you can buy them on ebay and then have a locksmith cut them; I have done both

i got a blank from VW for $20, ebay sounds cheaper!

The eBay blanks will most probably be of inferior quality though. I got one and it's quite soft and prone to scoring. The key cutter commented about it too.

Is it expensive to do this? one of my keys is bent completely from being in my pocket and I don't want it to happen to the other

The eBay blanks will most probably be of inferior quality though. I got one and it's quite soft and prone to scoring. The key cutter commented about it too.

mine's pretty good, the locksmith guy i saw said it was a good key.
if ur worried about that, go to VW and get an original. if its only $20 and better than most ebay ones, might be worth it

Actually went to Penrith VW yesterday to order another one and they are all out now Looks like will have to be an ebay job!

Put a back order in they should be able to get you one in.

The either couldnt or wouldnt put one on back order for me..but no dramas...ECS have OEM...

they look like they ones on ebay, i got the mk3 style one but i only paid $17 to get the key and cut, not $25 just to get the key
