  • Has there been a better time to buy a MK2?

Has there ever been a better time to get yourself a MK2?
With the 5 in the classifieds on here; choice of 3 or 4 door, 8v or 16v, Aussie car or import.
Then there's the cars on Gumtree, Car Sales & the odd one popping up on ebay.

What is going on? Why is everyone selling up?

Me too. I had a brief flirtation with selling it, but every time i see it in my garage it makes me smile.

There are a few popping up for sale indeed.
Is it just me or are the prices seeming to inflate a little recently?

I can't believe there are 3 Mk2 3drs for sale atm!! Out of the 19 or so we counted up to be in Australia, unbelieveable! I really want another Mk2 as my next VW, i want to import a Rallye ideally, but i'd love one of those 3 drs for sale atm, just bad timing for me so i can't do anything about it!

i agree, some are pretty pricey! esp for something that is pre 90's

As i said i would love a 16v but i wont pay those sort of prices, but that is just me, i am tight and still think of UK prices too much lol
it is a shame that most 16v's here in Oz are early ones and not later 90/91 big bumper ones. This would be my dream car (an orginal import)...that will be worth paying for.

3 mk2 3doors for sale atm is pretty amazing!
....and depressing for those who wish but lack the cash!
One day I'll get one so I can cruise around with my brother Marty's 3 door and my dads aus-spec 5 door....time to save

They seem to be selling rather quickly aswell (well the ones on carpoint do)

I think you need to make/update your thread over at Aussieveedubbers Walshy.

Seems like a bargain, but imagine how stiff the ride would be with those size rims and skinny tyres!
Id imagine it may have just a few problems at that price

I'm already riding stiff... if you jack the left front wheel up the left back lifts up to... not as much but it starts to lift

but yes the price does seem to good considering how much I paid for mine
