  • New Toy for me.

This fell into my lap and I just had to have it.
And bought some new tyres for the borbets and slapped em on.

It was funny actually, some bloke rang me up and said "I have a Mk2 I want to get rid off".
I said "What is it, standard 5 door aussie one?" He said "no its a 2 door import, shall I bring it down for you to see??".

Clearly he did and I grabbed it.

It has baked paint and a couple of rust bubbles, it has been here for ages and has 4 months NSW rego.
Its a 1987 and was a kjet car, which someone tried to convert to digi. They couldnt get it to work so it now has a Microtech computer.
Good points are mint seats, carpet and dash. Factory sunroof works like velvet.
It also has coilovers and a meaty rear sway bar. Has A/C and P/S!
    Plus Big Bumpers
On the downside it has a shocking steering rack and top strut mounts and an RV tired engine.
I have a smashed Ibiza GTI here, so I reckon a 2L EFI transplant and a respray are on the cards.
Should be a fun daily at that point.

I know I said no more toys for me, but I also said there is room in my garage for a big bumper 2 door Mk2. I have a space for it next to the rocco and everything

They went onto a Scirocco. No other car would have prised em off me, but they look great on the Rocco annd the Borbets are awesome on this car.

I'm not a fan of the Borbets but I do think they look better than the ATS cups on that particular car. It does look better in the photos than it did in person though.

Of course sitting in front of my mark 2 would make any other golf look rough *cough*

OMG, I remember I saw this car a few times in my area, it could be the only one 2 doors Red Mk2 Gti in Sydney. Rare found, keep it going Matt.

Thats interesting Adrian, could well be true, as it has some good gear on it.

The microtech is going though in the interests of nice starting and factory reliability.

The red is staying, but getting shinier. My favorite colour on a Mk2 GTI.

                          I`ll check tomorrow.
I plan to take it all out complete, and keep all the sensors and custom intake etc on the motor with it. Thus, if anyone wants it as a bolt on job for an 8v, I`m happy to take offers.
Or use it on a future project.

Take the microtech off. And the shocks, and the wheels.

Lets see, what else do I need for my car. Heater, hazard switch, side strips, driving lights.

And that nice piece of plastic above the headlamps but can you spray it white for me.

                            Thanks Matt.

I remember meeting the guy when he was at Matts trying to get rid of it, its a good starting point I think. Will go well, he owner had it for quite a few years and lived down in Alexandria.
