Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk 2 GTI in Canberra

I've been looking for a Mk1/Mk2 GTI for a while now, prerequisites being solid mechanics, original/near original condition and reasonable kms. A little while ago, I chatted to a dealer in Canberra about this silver one - http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/VO...048816296&pt=1

I was just wondering if there's anyone on the forum based in Canberra who'd be interested in taking a peek at the car. It sounds honest, if a little rough around the edges, and aside from the wheels and head unit, looks pretty original.

Anyway, if there is anyone interested, let me know and I'm sure we can sort something out (box of ale or similar included).

    Cheers!

This one has been for sale for a while now. I don't know of anyone who has had a closer look. I think this might be close-ish to my work, so I can probably swing past for a gander.

    Cheers

Overall it looks pretty good. Drives well, despite a clumsy gearbox. So there are some issues to be mindful of, but for a 20yo car it could be a lot worse.

Email comin' at ya with more detail.

        Cheers

Haven't bought it yet. But I'm up there on Tuesday to get it inspected and make an offer.

Liam sent me a whole bunch of pics and comments that I can send you if I decide not to buy though.

OK; I spoke with them yesterday and the guy said someone was coming from Sydney today to purchase it, he had apparently negotiated a price ? They might have wires crossed but you might want to check

                  Cheers

No, I didn't. It was sold before I could get there.

I did, however, put a deposit on one in Sydney. More on this soon.
