That's the difference between England and Australia. I do 1000 miles in 2 weeks just getting to work each day.

I couldn't do that sort of mileage in the mk2, I'd end up killing or beating the cr6p out of some one by the first week.

The mk2 is great for a laught but I don't have the cojones to drive it everyday long distance, quick blasts is enough to give a smile plus more

        • Yeah, it's a real killer when the local video store is so far away.

            I was just idly flicking through wheel whores forum and came across this;

Is that your MK2 covered in dust?

            • unfortunatly yes, without its bonnet having some minor mods being done to it's bay, we removed the expansion bottle and fitted a top fill rad from a mk1 and relocated the water bottle to the boot, pick it up on the 6th for my birthday.

Thankfully the list of mods to do is down to 2 items

If you're bringing your car to Oz you'd better get used to driving long distances. Sydney to Canberra is considered a day trip and it's 200 miles each way. My GTI has 214000 k's on the clock and I wouldn't think twice about taking it to Sydney and back in the same day.

                Cheers

Mine has 329900 k's on the clock and the thought of driving to Sydney is nothing, especially after traveling across the whole of Australia in it.

                    Nick.
Distances isnt a issue, problem is london driving is all start stop, the mileage I put on it is pure b roads and some free way to shows. My caddy broke down on me about a year ago and I grabed the golf to comute to and from work for the week while the van was been repaired. Loved the drive but when I arrived home every evening I wanted to kill.

Hence lock it up for the week and then squeeze every little pony I can over a short twisty road in a short period of time.

I love the car to bits buts couldn't drive it every day like that in london. Hence when I'm in it, I drive it like I stole it. as it should be,

                    long live mk2's

Fair enough, now that you put it that way.

I wish I could drive mine like I stole it, would make the trip home from work so much more fun

... but when you drive through a regular cop patrol area its not really the safest... key word: really

                        • Hmmm mk2's are great for trips std I drove 1200km to Canberra on Friday and the same home Sunday. However with coilovers, exhaust etc you must thrash em so I have an old Audi Barge daily

How many 'ponies' does it have? Also does it have any sort of exhurst on it? sounded quiet in that video... or couldn't the camera handle it?
