Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Scrubbing the grit and grime on the inside was by no means easy but well worth the effort. Probably need to get them refurb down the track for the grazing.

Also what do people think, centre caps or no centre caps.

Also about the whistling in the engine bay, not sure which belt or something cause i've lubricated them several times including rubber grease:

Not sure if the belts are out of line?

Can anybody recommend a good, reliable place to get a respray, planning to respray whole car soon to fix some of the blemishes and different coloured panels.

Also a good exhaust fitter to change over the tips

Also anybody got any interiors bits and pieces, im searching for some stuff to fix things or replace. Anybody have a uncracked dash?

Might pay to check your timing belt tension, they do whine when done up too tight.

The early golf side trim has gone on today and the holes line up so no need to fill them, just need some small bumper arches or even spats, im not sure.

Do the regular steelies centre caps fit on the bottle tops or are they different radius. Also anyone got a neat dash, planning to swap it soon. Also need a uncut parcel shelf.

Can anyone also recommend a good place to fix upholstery or what other seats fit a mk2.

                      • is it at all possible to repair a cracked dash. Probably not going to find one here or overseas. Just hate the huge hole in it and thick cracks.

Is it hard to do yourself or is it better to get a proffesional?
