Raise it up a bit and give it a thrashing.. Then come back and tell us how much nicer the ride is and how much better it handles at that height..

Well, time to dig up this thread again, it has been a while and a long long road but the end is looking close (i hope i havent spoken too soon!)
My car has been off the road since the end of summer. The car was dropping in power. Suspected head gasket.
finally bite the bullet and ordered new parts (out of uk) and took the engine apart.
I did the heater matrix first

which wasn't a hard job.
Then to was up to Woodend to a mates house to attack the engine.
After a few hours of pulling it all apart we found out if wasn't the head...the bottom end was goosed!
The bores were like a record!

So I got my old 2.0 bottom end I went to throw that back in....then we found out the headbolts I had sent from the uk were 16v ones and so too long!
So order new ones...and 4 CV boots! cam belt, oil, filter, vacum hoses and a few othe rbits and bobs.

So , after ALOT of ****ing about we had the motor in, also threw in my 268 cam for good measure!
Engine fired first time! but had an air block in the cooling system. After many many, many, many, many attempts we finally got it. Car run ok, got up to temp. Fans kicked in...not boiling over
Managed to get my Tempt gauges working....next is the tune.
So my mate set the car up, found out it wasnt advancing! Found to be a wiring issue with the OEM wiring loom! two sensors were wired in the wrong way around. So that was rewired. No we have advance!
But only 20 degs not the 30 we were looking for!
off to Pick a part and grabbed a knock sensor for 10 bucks. Fitted that and hello 30 degs
Next project is to fix the exhaust, it is blowing in 3 places.
after that, the next will be to fit my 90's style lights

Next year, new suspension and brakes... Looking for a 60 mm drop all round.
Fingers crossed it will be fully on the road again this week!Velly
