Just out of curiosity Loon, how long did it take to do your conversion?

Very clean conversion...

Brings back memories of all the things i did...

Apart from sub-frame and cross member and drive shafts, that's everything i did!!!

And I'm sure it's everything you did too loon!

I actually bought the car with the incomplete conversion. The engine was in, but had never run. This was worse than doing it from scratch in many ways, cos I had to live with decisions the previous owner had made and redo a lot of stuff. It took me 6 months to get it to a state fit for engineering and I am still doing little things to it now. I`m 95% happy with it now.

If I did another one from scratch, with a good donor car, I could do it in a month i reckon.

I have a VR6 shell here at the moment and a Scirocco with a tired motor. I`d love to VR6 it, but its a major job into an A1 chassis car, needs a heap of welding.

sacrefices, sacrefices but you already have a VR6 monster, so you can look at it like that maybe instead of just a stock 16v, work it from hell to high water

Getting some ideas from that conversion article. I can't begin to imagine how much my gti would haul with a modified vr6 under the bonnet.

i just watched the utube vid, all i can say is "YES I MUST HAVE" minus the all chrome as that is not my cup of tea

i have been looking at the a2 vr6 conversion linked, metioned above for a while now & must say that it is very well done giving a lot of detail
all in all it gives me confidence & motivation to get into it,
it seems from what that guy says that any post 1989 mk2 is just begging for this conversion
i wonder who the first member will be to start posting their pics of the conversion on this site " me i hope "

anything can happen
that would make 2 red mk2 vr6, it must be the designated colour for the vr6 conversion
