Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have the same dilemma. I bought the g60's for the front and rear wanting to get a fatter look, but i'll need some big ass spacers to make the wheels come in line. Or buy wheels with a deep dish. The fronts just sit way out from the backs.

I'm going with small bumpers to try them out and am not sure if i want the g60's arches anymore as I might op for 85 spec arches, so i maybe selling them (btw they are brand spanking new).

As Golf loon alluded to, you're better off getting wheels that fit rather then playing with spacers as you'll need pretty big ones I'd think, please correct me if I'm wrong.

to run flush with g60 arches at the front with stock mk2 gti subframe, you need about 8" wheels at et +15. that pretty much translates to a wheel with approximately 85mm from the mounting face (of the wheel to the hub), to the outer lip in terms of the rim itself, in the axial direction.

example, if a wheels had 1 inch from the mounting face to the front of the spokes in width, you'd need 2.5" of dish to be flush at g60.

if none of this makes sense to you, check out this thread

      oh yeah forgot about specs:

      bbs RM
      15x8 front et 14
      15x8.5 rear et ~8-10

      13' MK7 TDI

I've seen a pic somewhere and it looked pretty odd having all the width up front but it may have been due to the lack of a wide enough wheel to fill the space.

You could always put G60 fronts on the rear as well.

It can be done with some modifications to the fender and the side skirt if you feel like some plastic fabrication work?!! :p

            Heres the proof...

You would need to give me you BBS RM's and buy something wider to fill em out though!

I've got the a set of front and rears if you want them, just not liking how wide they are and i cant be bothered trying to find wheels and wheel spacers that fit when i like the wheels ive got.

                      PM sent mate.

How far off were the rear guards when you tried to fit them to your car?

It looks like I may be buying a MK2 GTI in the near future, and I was looking at adding G60 guards to it.
As far as I am aware, I will only need to buy the front flare's. Is this correct, or is there anything else I will need to have the G60 flare's on the car.
                        Cheers.
Contrary to popular belief, the g60 rears are slightly wider then standard flares and also sit and slope in a different angle out from the car (more straight out then curved).

I've found that having standards on the back looks like the two halves of the car are different, they just dont match.

Here is a pic of my front ones and you'll see what i mean about needing wider wheels:
