Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk1 manual brake cylinder -measurents for BMW

    Hey everyone,
Wonder if you can help me. I own a BMW e21 with an ATE brake master cylinder, which is similar to mk1 golf. I'm wanting to go down a size in master cylinder bore as I'm running non boosted brakes due to the booster hitting my dcoe carbs.
I'm aware that the manual brakes mk1s are 17mm. Which could be a good help considering the e21 cylinder is 20.64mm.
Could someone please help me with all dimensions of one of these 17mm cylinders?
Need specifically the bolt hole pattern, measurement between holes, and external piston measurement. Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Sparkle

Must be an early golf master cyl you are chasing bud, All the units I have come across are 20.64 ( 13/16 ") from the MK1's I have and have had.
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...
