Just a quick update, not much to mention really.

After i got the engine running, I tracked some drive shafts down and installed them. Triple checked over everything as a lot of bolts around the car were missing, half fitted and not tight in general, and lose gearbox/engine sump bolts. - what a hassle.

After all that, I decided I'd actually see if it drives. Got it out the drive way, drove 200m and it died haha.

Checked over the car, and noticed it's not priming when the key goes on. Checked fuses, ok. Checked relay, it clicks. Added direct 12+ to the pump and it wont budge. Sent VWHeritage an email, and they sent over a new fuel pump without even questioning anything. (this is why i absolutely love VWHeritage).

I'm hoping that the pump was just a dud and it will run again no worries. What I am afraid of now, is what could have caused the pump to die? I am unaware if this GTi has a lift pump, but I will double check to make sure that if it does, that pump works well.

Will await the pump and report when it arrives and a proper drive is made.

Also have spoken to a few shops, as soon as I get it driving, I will be taking it to get fixed. Have been quoted anywhere from 7k-10k for repairs. Wow..... might have to get a night time job too haha.

The fuel pump will die if it has a hard life so if it's new it's a defective pump. If VWHeritage replaced it without questioning they might know they had a bad batch.

A blocked fuel filter can also kill a pump.

There shouldn't be a lift pump too. Have you changed all the filters and looked inside the tank? Is your fuel accumulator clean?

I've done a few primes to clean out the lines and such, and fuel filter seams ok. Yep you're right, maybe they know something I dont.

I didn't think there was a lift pump. No, I'm not sure if the accumulator is clean, to be honest not sure what it does so I didnt want to tamper with it haha. Looks like I'll have to give it a clean and see whats going on. Will also have a peak into the fuel tank and make sure its clean. Thanks for the idea!

The time finally came to drop of the GTi at the panel shop. So excited yet very afraid to see how things unfold in the next few weeks.

Massive thanks to my buddy Josh and his sexy ford for the tow.
Things are slowly moving forward, slowly collecting parts for the 20vt swap too, and for the wire tuck in the bay.

Haha, it's not fun waiting around is it? Especially when you don't know the outcome of their job.

It's ok though, it gives me time to collect parts. Parts like, a k04-022 turbo for the 1.8t Will take some pics later in the day. Bought it with all oil and coolant lines and injectors from a bloke on the forum. Just need to see what to do for mapping the ecu.

So Bought the K04-022 from the TT/S3. Seller claimed to have rebuilt it, with new bearings etc (was in the for sale section).

Came with coolant and oil lines, hopefully all goes ok.

Also came with injectors - word on the street is they do not fit directly and that I will need some adaptor spacers from the U.S to use the S3 injectors on the AGU. Also comes with a 3bar fpr, however unsure if I need maybe a 4bar, pending what tunes it will go for, and how much psi its running.

Two more things I will need to source, one being a manifold for it, and the other is a exhaust dump pipe flange so I can make a custom exhaust/ dump.

                      Exciting

Haha, indeed. i invested too much money and time into that conversion to sell it for peanuts. So keeping it and going to have some fun

Finally ripped the motor out of the cabby and everything along with it. So here it is, the motor will start getting stripped down and slowly getting things cleaned and freshened up. I'll be doing a lot of cleaning, removing of clutter and powder coating and polishing things. Hoping in a few months its ready by the time I get my license back haha.

Goodbye cabby, you were genuinely the most fun thing I've ever owned. RIP

Short term motor and gearbox plans are something along the lines of; get the rest of the bits for the K04 swap and complete it. Powder coat the intake manifold, rocker cover, paint the block and gearbox - sell the short ratio 02j and get a long ratio one to match the AGU well. Diesel Geek components as follows - short shifter, solid cable holder bushes, complete rebuild on the shift box bushes (he makes amazing stuff if anyone wants to check it out). I've got some cool stuff I'd like to do with the shifter box inside the car, having it exposed to see all the linkages move around and such.

Also place a nice big order from ECS for a few other things as time goes. But before any of this, the GTi needs RWC!!!

Hey Scott, thanks mate - yeah it looks like a decent project so far.

Cabby has been up for grabs at the moment, but looks like it might go to the scrap yard in the next week or two by the look of things. It's a shame, but I can't keep both as that makes a total of 5 cars in my teeny driveway haha.

Went in today to drop the bumper, tail lights and beaver to the panel beater and managed to have a quick look at what was done.

Wowee was I shocked that just about everything pulled out... The floor section was a little rippled (tiny bit here and there) and they advised it's not worth replacing the entire floor section for a few ripples. The chassis legs are all straight and he said there wasn't that much damaged "we've definitely seen worse" haha so that made me feel good.

Unfortunately in the midst of it all, I forgot to take any pics. But he said he has plenty so Ill upload that when its finished. ETA time is approx. 3 weeks, then I'll give it a quick spray at home and get it ready for RWC. The ball is rolling!
