Hoping to get a decent amount of work done this weekend.

Aiming to do the following:

Clean the inside and maybe repair the passenger front floor.

Start sanding back the body.

Clean up the engine bay. And strip out the rest of whats left in it.

And I'll have to try and fix the dent in the passenger door as well, if time allows I'll attempt that as well.

So nothing happened last weekend, fell a little ill and had to work half the weekend. So I didn't plan any for this weekend but to work on the golf.

I am going to chop the front out, and get a new/used apron.

Straighten passanger chassis leg.

Clean up engine bay.

Buy sheet metal tomorrow to repair passanger front floor, and also see if I can weld sheet metal to the firewall to make it look straight and flush. And hopefully start fabricating some pieces to box the chassis legs up front to make it look very clean and tidy.

And then a question for you guys, 02A or 02J gearbox? And if possible, can someone give me pro's and con's of the two?

Just made it in time to the metal shop to buy three pieces of 600mmx800mm sheets. Thought a couple of them would have been big enough for "shaving" the engine bay but they won't work to well. Need one big piece.

Will start all work I want to achieve tomorrow and keep going on monday.

Will take pics of before and after of what I do and keep you posted.

So for today I didn't get much time to spend on the car. But did manage to get the engine bay almost completely clean from cables, hoses, wiring and everything like that.

Will get stuck into it tomorrow and see if I can start with some welding and possibly fix the floor as well, but I do have a short to do list of things I could think of immediately before packing up:

Been quite, had a crap week last week. From this weekend coming up I should be working on the Golf atleast every seconde weekend and if possible, the whole of saterday and sunday every time.

As my to do list states, there is a fair bit to do but it is probably more the the list says, the list is just things I could think of straight of the bat.

But on a different note:

I really appreciate the help with the new shell, but unfortunately I got screwed by the guy who helped me with it, took the quarter windows, took the windscreen, took the rear chrome bumper. That is things he doesn't need. I am pretty upset by it, but I will keep my head up and I will get out the otherside on top.

So, haven't done much because of work and other commitments. This weekend I'll be finishing up the stripping of the rest of the car and start planning/doing a few small things and work my way through it all.

Taking a small little break... But here are some pics of what has happened so far, front part of the carpet out, old screwed dash out, heater out...



Hopefully I can get the rear seat out and the rear part of the carpet. And start cleaning up the floor and see where I have rust etc.
