  • 20vt conversion!

This is probably a shonky question to ask but just out of curiosity has anyone done a 20vt engine conversion to there mk1? Just trying to get some ideas on what engine/gearbox/drive shafts ect would be suitable to use!
    Thanks

QPENG have a lot of information on 1.8T conversions here - Quantum Performance Engineering - Conversion Guide

This is applicable to a MK2 - but this link will give you the info you need for MK1 - Quantum Performance Engineering - I've got a Mk1, how does the conversion differ from the Mk2 guide?

There's loads of links and guides with pictures and info all over the net, do a little bit of googling and you'll find them - for example this one - VWVortex.com - The Official Mk1 20V post

From my research I've decided to go with a transverse 1.8T and I've bought custom mounts to fit this, I've also got a CTN code - MK3 TDI 02A gearbox which is apparently a dream for 1.8T with ratios and strength. I was under the impression that any 100mm drive shafts would fit but according to QPENG you're best with late cabby/scirroco 100mm shafts which I luckily already have. If you like the sound of going longitudinal - I have a AWT engine that I decided against using - I'm only chasing $500 ono for it and can deliver to Melbourne.

There's a lot of ways to do it - it all depends on what you want your end result to be. I'm aiming for 220ish BHP at the wheels, so I have a K04 etc and I'm budgeting for an LSD too.
