This car is for sale... and by the sounds of it... it would be a good buy as a track car, but also around town.

    All comments welcome.

just to note..... it has a bonnet strap, which i think means it has been raced. correct?

    cheers

    Rang him up.

Has a 1.8 litre from a 97 mdl seat corboda (I think thats what he said). Not sure on the Carbie, but is a webber of some sort (with no choke).
No idea what manifold or head (dad told me that these would be different from the original)
    Has a 4 speed gearbox

          Cheers for the link

          pitty its a 4 door

May look better, but I doubt it would go as hard. would require a bit of cash to get it to what i would want ie: sway bars, engine mods etc..

          may look at both

The red car is a less molested car.

The yellow has a weird home mader air inlet system and who knows what carby. And the papers show a 1.6 engine. And look at the crazy strut brace.

There are better condition 5 doors kicking around than 3 doors. All the 3 doors have been flogged, whilst a lot of 5s have been looked after. I bought a 5 door swallowtail for $1000 recently and my mate bought the best 5 door fully restored for similar money.

I've seen the first yellow one a few times and I know the South African guy who owns it. Its a bit slapped together but it's still a good quick car. I agree that strut brace is a complete joke. Was about a year ago when I saw it last and I think he had a for sale sign in the window as I passed him in my 16v.

If I where to get the red one, is it relatively easy to get someone to swap a 1.8 engine into it.. and find an engine. I def dont want a 1.6 in it for long.
The owner of the one i posted above told me he didnt get the EFI connected because the workshop said it was to hard ... Anyone know of places down in melb who can put in an engine with EFI into a mk1?

One other thing. How hard is it to get sway bars/torsion bars?

Ill most likely defanitly buy one of these..... there are pro's and cons for both. I really wish I didnt sell mine all those years ago

Looking at the red one sat.... owner says take some jumper leads as its been sitting around for ages..... hmmmm.....
might be a good buy if I can get it cheap enough *ponders*

                        Ill keep ya all posted.

Will ring around some vw workshops fri to see if they can source a engine for it to make it go a bit better. Any ideas on what type of engine would be a cheap/good choice

sorry for all the noob questions, must be given you guys the poo's

ausgolfer has a 2L 16v ABF engine and gearbox for sale which i think would be a great option for optimum boost in power!!!
if you buy the red golf... you gotta sell me those wheels
