aye aye to that one loon... set up nicely, you dont have to touch it for years and doesnt miss a beat, i think thats why im so attatched to my 8v and cant put in a 16 or 20v engine bacause i wont get the same responce as a mechanical inj setup, always cranks over when you JUST flick the key (not hold it till it starts) adnd turns on first time always

I've got k-jet on my 16v cab and it starts nice and runs smooth but I know that there is another 10-15 horses in this engine if an aftermarket computer is used(all of my customers cars blow me away) and then you CAN use your Commodore fuel pump to make it run.

            True.

            KE-Jet has a computer.

It replaces the cold start valve with an electronic box of tricks and has an emissions sensoir on the exhaust.

sounds like a good system... i think the conversion is a go.. but now all i need is a job that actually pays me!

youd think a big organisation like a university could organise themselves and pay their staff!

do you know if it was ever injected? The old harness for the k-jet might still be intact eg warm up regulator or ignition loom
or if it is the original motor?
you might be able to tell from the engine code, provided its the original motor (which ususally isn't)
I don't know if there is an external difference between a diesel tank and petrol tank. But i'm sure someone else out there does.

as far as i know it came over with a gutless 1.3 carby motor.. the dude who owned it before i did ripped that out and wacked in a mk2 1.8, plugged up the ports and strapped on the fuel guzzling sidedraft twin throat weber thats on it now.

You can buy a lift pump from a Golf Cabrio 1990-1992 and keep your fueltank and run an aftermarket bosche main pump.

From memory, the carb tanks suck fuel from the fuel sender ???

the diesel and FI tanks have a larger outlet at the right hand end ( drivers side), mid way along the lower edge. the return line goes in the right side also, at the front top corner under the tank seam. check the pic...

                              Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

                              Cheers,
                              Grant...

                                Yeah roccodingo is right.

Easiest way to check without getting dirty is unscrew the plate under the back seat (3 screws).

If the tank sender unit has two hoses coming out of it, it is the carby tank.
