Thanks to my mate Sean who came around to my place and helped me out with a bit of work getting some of the things af the S3 which I need. Hopefully maybe by next sunday I should have everything out which I'll need. And then just gotta get a trailer again and get the Golf home and chip away at the project.
Will go and have a chat to my engineer and find out if I can fit the S3 tunnel in the Golf because of its design keeping the propshaft and exhaust in the same tunnel and also possibly preventing alot of fabrication work.
And then also a question for those who have done a lot of fabrication themselfs, what type of welding would you recommend for all the body, engine bay etc.
Correct me if I am wrong but from what I have researched I think mig welding would be my best option to help prevent stuffing things up.
Seeing my engineer tomorrow to ask him about a few things that have been on my mind since saterday. And then also realised that monday is a public holiday so I can get more done this weekend.
That's over 7000 ks since I bought it 3 months ago and every day it gets better.
Ver nice...
Gonna have the Mk1 at my rents place soon enough to strip it to shell only and then start modding the tunnel etc for the propshaft and exhaust. When is the next meet and greet??
For those of you with a bit more knowledge on the Audi side of VAG. After stripping everything from the S3 that I will need to do my conversion. Can any of you tell me where I'd find the Gearbox code on the gearbox?
Is it similar to the VW where it is on the end of the gearbox facing towards the outside? Or if you know the S3 range well, can you tell what code it will have. Its a 1998 Audi S3 8L with an APY engine code.
