  • 3 door mk1 gti for sale..anyone know this car....

    Hi Guys,

Anyone seen this before, or know this car. It looks hot and has a TSR sticker on the eyelid which would indicate that its a UK import. She is asking alot for it though...thats UK pricing...... She mentions that there is mk2 lights and dash etc but its not.....maybe she is mistaken for later mk1 lights and dash.

IF anyone knows anything on this let me know......

    cheers

    Thierry

It has had a lot of work done. Even the engine mount (RF) has been moved to take the 16V motor. It looks really good. $7700 seems a bit much, can always negotiate down a bit.

If I did not have a toy already I'd buy it...

Why would you move the engine mount to fit a 16v?? It fits straight in.

Its not an import Thierry, its an Aussie car rebuilt with the later back panel and 16v motor. Its nice that its all done and you can just jump in.

It was on ebay for $4500 recently.

Mk1s are not comfortable for daily use though and the air con is basic

air con?! gah, just sweat like a man!!

7,700 is a bit steep, but providing it's got no rust, it's basically good to go, which is handy; and I'm sure I'd be quick too!

can someone tell me what sort of power the 16v mk2 engine kicks out? my brother used to have a tricked up hyper blue mk1, and think it had a mk2 engine?

everything under the bonnet was colour-coded red, sway bars, removable race steering wheel (mr bean style), electric windows, flared guards, immaculate interior, konis, 3" exhaust...and most importantly...it flew. i was only 17 when i drove it...and i still remember the adrenalin rush. nothing compares to that moment.

he ended up selling it...i had no chance buying it. loving brother was too concerned i would kill myself in the car or something!

KR 16v was rated at 139BHP or just over 103kW at the engine

By the way, the car is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it - it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! If you're happy to pay a certain price, and it's in decent nick, then what more do you need to know

I can't be sure what it will put out yet, but judging by the many similar setups in the US and Germany, it should have around 250kW/335HP on about 1 bar of boost. I should know for sure by the end of the week

You'll definately have to keep us informed Stu. I'd be predicting a little bit more than that, even with that boost pressure.
My old turbo (GT25/40R) went 344hp on 15psi on a 1.8L CA18 nissan. Your T3/4 should easily make that.
