  • I don’t think either type would be sufficient on a Mk1 pumping out 350bhp The Gemini LSD is a clutch type as you say and would make for a pig of a road car, but be far superior for an out and out track car. Personally, I’d go the Peloquin if it was for a combination of road and track use.

Yeah maybe "sufficient" wasn't the right word. I meant a peloquin is getting close to making the most of the grip you have in a FWD. And it definitely eliminates that lighting up the inside wheel problem.

Dude, have you ever used a dog box? You'd be sick of it in a week in a street car. plus the straight cut gears rattle and whine..

          • Yep, the Gemini is a 1.5 way clutch type and I've been warned that it'll give me hell, but I do intend to try it when I get the other gearbox fixed. It was quite cheap so if it's no good I'll sell it off!
P.S. I think within a couple of weeks, the car will have a smaller turbo on anyway... but I wanna try it like this first

                  • Oh yeah, and also delayed with more parts as the Aus dollar is so piss weak to pretty much every other currency in the world, meaning all the good bits cost a lot more money

Pretty steadily now. Getting a fair bit done every weekend and now onto the fiddly bits. I'll be there for summer, assuming I can afford my brakes to get the smaller wheels on

                        Pics when it's finished

                        • I've got some mk1 GTI ones for you.
                          You could run 13s then.

Are you going to run 14s Stu?
I've had 14s on my bedroom floor for the last 4 months Considered fitting the 16v Rocco brakes, but that'd be stupid - smaller brakes and more power!

                            • Update: pics in about two weeks with much new to see ... Have also ordered a 100hp dry NOS kit to throw into the mix (for track use only - of course!), which should make things fun and look cool on display...

Oh, and new TFSI Audi S3 engine with PnP Mk1 loom leaving Aachen, Germany next week! Won't be able to afford the fuel system etc for a while, or the necessary engine bay mods, but patience is a virtue and it was silly cheap. Full OEM style install is the plan with wrinkle black paint and a few polished bits and bobs

so how big a turbo have you gone for now requiring abit of throttle in a bottle to spool it?
